Asbestos Inspection & Removal
East Coast Environmental, P.A. was recently contracted by a client to perform an asbestos inspection for an old textile mill that they were considering for purchase and renovation. While a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) had recently been completed by others, the Phase I ESA did not included any discussion for the possibility of asbestos within the former mill building.
Fortunately, the purchaser had done some research on his own regarding the possibility of asbestos in this type of industrial setting so he contacted ECE. A thorough asbestos inspection completed by ECE revealed over 200 linear feet of friable piping insulation that would have cost the buyer thousands of dollars out of pocket to remove had he had purchased the building without addressing the asbestos issue beforehand.
