Underground & Aboveground Storage Tank Removal

Both underground and aboveground petroleum storage tanks have been increasingly scrutinized as sources of environmental contamination by  governmental agencies and the general public. ECE offers our clients a wide range of field operations and regulatory compliance services tailored to meet the needs of commercial storage tank owners.

ECE’s consultation services with clients ensure that goals and established deadlines for compliance with the UST regulation (2N) can be met in a timely manner.

Soil & Groundwater Remedial System Operation & Maintenance 

Contaminated soil can either be excavated and hauled off for treatment at a permitted facility, or it can be cleaned up in place through venting, and/or the injection of compounds designed to break down the targeted contaminant in place.

Contaminated groundwater can also be treated in place by pumping air or other compounds into the ground, or can be pumped out and treated by a treatment system and later discharged into a drainage feature.

Contaminant Fate & Groundwater Modeling 

Contaminant fate and groundwater modeling includes the field collection of data regarding the groundwater contaminant plume such as groundwater flow direction and velocity, soil and groundwater contaminant concentration’s and contaminant and groundwater dispersivity characterizes. After the data has been compiled, then the applicable computer model is chosen and the field data entered so that an accurate estimate of the groundwater contaminant and concentrations over time can be determined.

Soil, Air, & Groundwater Monitoring 

Soil, air and groundwater monitoring includes checking contaminant levels in these three mediums at specific monitoring points over time and distance from the source in order to determine whether contaminant levels are trending higher or lower over time. These measurements can also be modeled in order to provide estimates of maximum plume length and concentrations over time.

We retain highly qualified subcontractors to provide auxiliary services such as field drilling, UST and petroleum contaminated soil removal, and laboratory analysis as needed.
